On 20th February the «Comendadoras» of the Order remember the dedication of the Convent Church Major of our Order in Malta, according to the liturgical calendar of the Order of Saint John.
For this reason, we show you the Church of the Royal Monastery of Saint John of Acre. It was restored in 2020.
The nunnery of Saint John of Acre was founded in XIII century, it suffered different vicissitudes, but it maintains the typical atmosphere of a medieval monastery.
The church and annexes: sacristy, etc were restored in 2020. The most important place in the church is the presbytery, where you can see three figures: the most important Saint John the Baptist, and close to him, his parents: Zacharias and Elisabeth.
The presbytery is topped by a Maltese cross held by angels. And under the cross, the scapular with the signs of the Passion of Christ, this is worn by the Professed Knights and the Nuns of the Order nowadays.
